Sculptra® is an injectable made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible material that stimulates collagen. It is FDA-approved to correct certain facial wrinkles and folds, and using it to shape the buttocks is considered an off-label use. Unlike hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, which add volume right away, Sculptra encourages your body to produce more collagen over time.

We usually recommend 3 treatments, but this varies from patient-to-patient depending on their desired results.

Most patients needed at least 4 vials to start. This will vary based on the desired outcome.

We treat patients 18 and older. There is no upper age limit, and many patients in their 40s and 50s choose a Sculptra BBL because collagen production naturally slows with age. Your injector will assess your skin quality and goals during your consultation.

Since Sculptra stimulates collagen production in the treated area, your positive results won’t be affected if you gain or lose weight. The projection and shape of your buttock shouldn’t be affected!

Yes! Squats can help. They build the glute muscles underneath, while Sculptra stimulates collagen in the tissue above, so the two can complement each other for a rounder, firmer shape. Ask your injector how soon you can return to lower-body workouts after treatment.

A Sculptra® Booty Sculpting session begins with a consultation to discuss your aesthetic goals and develop a personalized treatment plan. The procedure involves the injection of Sculptra® into targeted areas of the booty. The treatment typically takes about 30 to 60 minutes. Afterward, you may notice some swelling or bruising along with mild tenderness at the injection sites. These effects are usually temporary and resolve within a few days. We will likely ask you to massage the area regularly for several days (often called the 5-5-5 rule) to help the product spread evenly.

Sculptra® Booty Sculpting works by using Sculptra®, which contains poly-L-lactic acid, to stimulate your body's natural collagen production. This process gradually increases the volume and firmness of the booty over time. Unlike traditional fillers, which provide immediate results, Sculptra® builds up collagen gradually. In the end, you get to enjoy a more natural and lasting enhancement!

Results usually become noticeable over several weeks and continue to improve for a few months as new collagen forms. Many patients enjoy their results for up to two years, and touch-up sessions can help you maintain them.

Right after treatment, your buttocks may look slightly fuller because of the fluid used to dilute Sculptra and some mild swelling. This early fullness fades within a few days, and your lasting results develop gradually as collagen builds.

For the first day or two, skip strenuous workouts and limit long periods of sitting or lying on the treated area when you can. Ask us before taking blood-thinning medications or supplements, since they can increase bruising. Keep up with the massage routine your injector gives you.

Results take time to appear and usually require multiple sessions. Some patients develop small bumps or nodules under the skin, which is one reason the massage routine and an experienced injector are so important. A Sculptra BBL also adds more subtle volume than a surgical fat transfer.

It depends on your goals. A surgical BBL transfers fat from another area of your body and can create a larger change in size, but it requires general anesthesia and a longer recovery. A Sculptra BBL offers gradual, subtle enhancement with minimal downtime, which makes it a good fit if you want a non-surgical option or have little excess fat to transfer.

A Sculptra BBL may not be right for you if you have a history of keloids or raised scarring. We also avoid treating areas with an active infection or inflammation, and we generally postpone treatment during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you expect a large change in size, a surgical option may meet your goals better.
